A perfect restoration is a very hot commodity these days, and now, interested fans have a chance to park this gorgeous first-generation pony car in their garage. This amazing opportunity is brought to you by The Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Napa Auto Parts, and AJM Classics.
NAPA retailers across the province have stepped up in support of Heart & Stroke by volunteering to sell tickets. NAPA Auto Parts in Moncton hopes to raise $300,000 by selling tickets to the completely restored 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 in the Foundation's first-ever Classic Car Raffle. The Classic Car Raffle started with the idea of buying an older car and paying to have it restored, and then went to getting a classic car that was rebuilt into a "restomod," a type of car that has been rebuilt with high-performance parts and accessories.
"It is a fantastic vehicle," Dan McKim, vice-president of NAPA Atlantic, expressed. McKim said the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more difficult to get people together for fundraising events, so they started talking about doing something different this year.
McKim said the car was originally purchased new in 1968 at Bob McDonalds Chev-Olds in Halifax, and in recent years was subject to a full frame-off professional restoration back to showroom condition. It was purchased by AJM Classics owner Alfred MacArthur, who sold it to the Foundation for the ticket draw.
The Camaro has already made it's appearance at the 2021 Turner Christmas Market in Moncton, NB. In 2022, the car will be showing up at:
The Moncton Boat Show + NB Sportsmen and Fly Fishing Show April 8-10
The 48th Annual Radical Speed Sport Show April 22-24
The NB Atlantic Nationals July 6-10th.
The draw date for the car is scheduled for August 31st, 2022 and with only 5,000 tickets available selling for $100 each or 3/$250, having this car in your collection could easily become a reality.
